Children's Ministry Volunteers Needed
Volunteer Needs:
To staff our children’s ministry, we need 5 people serving each week on a 4-week rotation, which totals 20 volunteers. Currently, we have 10 volunteers signed up, so we need 10 additional (once a month) volunteers.

Elementary Students:
Our elementary students are kind, creative, and eager to grow and learn! They begin by sharing their good news for the week, sometimes bringing Bibles with verses to share. This leads into our lesson, which is simple and will be provided a few days in advance.
We are loosely following along with the sermon series on Growing in Faith, but after Easter, we are considering a series on Serving for the summer, with some fun ideas in the works. We typically have a simple craft or activity that ties into the lesson. While working on the craft, we steer the conversation toward prayer requests and end our time in prayer.
We currently have 2 of the 4 volunteers needed to complete this 4-week rotation.

Toddlers:
Our toddler group has doubled in the past month . We now have 4 toddlers (ages 2–3.5 years; 2 boys and 2 girls). The toddlers meet in an enclosed conference room with a TV screen that allows volunteers to share their phones for screen time. We’re compiling a list of toddler-appropriate praise music to play for them.
This group is all about calm play. If one toddler gets upset, they quickly all join in with sympathy cries . The space isn’t designed for toddlers, but we provide a crate with toddler-appropriate toys, activities, and a mat for floor play.
We currently have 6 of the 8 volunteers needed for this 4-week rotation.

Babies/Crawlers:
We are now adding babies and crawlers to our childcare program! Currently, we have 3 babies (ages 11 months, 6 months, and 4 months), and we are expecting 2 more in April and May. As they start crawling, they need more space to roll around, so we’re working on finding the best area for them. We will provide rockers, a large playpen, and a few baby toys. We’ll need 2 volunteers per week to begin this rotation.

For all three groups, the children begin at Elixir with breakfast with their families, followed by announcements, sharing, and worship time. Volunteers typically slip out after the first song to head to Toast and Jam to prepare for the children’s arrival. The children’s program lasts about 40–45 minutes, with the parents returning after the closing song. Our set-up team will have crates with toddler/crawler toys and elementary supplies, along with a floor mat. Micah (our 15-year-old) will help pack everything up and return the supplies to Elixir after the message wraps up.

Please contact Laura Warner at laura@goodnewschurchga.com or 770-364-4143 and let her know your age preference, as well as whether you’re willing to be part of a 4-week rotation. We typically plan a few months ahead but can be flexible with travel schedules and family conflicts.
We require all volunteers to complete a background check, which is a quick, online process (and the church covers the cost). Once I’m working on the schedule, I’ll send a link for that.
It’s also helpful to have volunteers who are willing to fill in as substitutes occasionally. If you prefer to be on the substitute list, that’s great too!
