Good News Care Bags are practical, cost conscious, meaningful ways to serve and provide short term relief for people in need that we may encounter unexpectedly. These care bags are also intended to provide opportunity to meet longer-term needs (physical and spiritual).
CARE BAGS
The care bags include a few basic need items in a drawstring bag that you can keep in your car to give away as you encounter people in need.
Items include:
1. A personal note to the reader on a Good News Church GA notecard - Think of what you would say to the person holding the cardboard sign and write it down in a few sentences. In your note, be sure to let them know that, if they want longer term help, they can call or text our church phone # and we will come alongside to help however we can. NOTE: See Word.doc for sample notes.
2. A copy of the “Life and Teachings of Jesus” book (copies available for free at www.plusnothing.com) and reading plan (see attached Word.doc).
3. Good News Church coaster (includes contact info - phone and email)
4. Granola snack bars (2) and a bag of peanuts / trail mix
5. Canned food (Chef Boyardee) and a P38 military can opener (recommended by homeless peple we met at the Good News Shelter)
6. Bottled water
GLOVE BOX ENVELOPE
The glove box envelope is intended to be a smaller, more compact resource that can be kept in the glove box of your car and/or in a purse, work bag, etc.
Items include:
1. A personal note to the reader
2. A copy of the “Life and Teachings of Jesus” book (copies available for free at www.plusnothing.com) and reading plan (see attached Word.doc).
3. Good News Church contact info
4. Gift card (i.e., Kroger, Subway, Q.T., Racetrac, etc.)
It's our hope that these items will equip and encourage us to move towards people in need with the love of Jesus, in being able to provide relief towards physical and spiritual needs. For more information, feel free to text or call Julie Stevens at 404-502-2664.
